Powder coating is a type of coating containing solids, applied in powder form to create a coating. Powder coating and its process equipment are relatively new technologies developed in recent years, and metal powder coating technology is currently one of the fastest-developing coating technologies in powder coating. So what exactly is metal powder coating technology? What kind of equipment is needed for metal powder coating?
Basic principle of metal powder coating: The basic principle is to form a high-voltage corona discharge electric field between the spray gun and the workpiece. When powder particles are sprayed from the spray gun and collect a large number of electrons passing through the discharge area, they become negatively charged particles and are adsorbed onto the positively charged workpiece under the action of electrostatic attraction. When the powder adheres to a certain thickness, a 'same-sex repulsion' effect will be produced, and no more powder can be adsorbed. After the powder layer is heated, baked, and cured, it will flatten into a uniform film layer.
Metal powder coating process: The typical process flow of powder electrostatic spraying (metal) is as follows: loading → degreasing → cleaning → derusting → cleaning → phosphating → cleaning → passivation → powder electrostatic spraying → curing → cooling → unloading; the process flow of powder electrostatic spraying (sheet) is as follows: sheet hanging → preheating conductivity → electrostatic spraying (primer) → hot melt curing → cooling → unloading. The main factors affecting the quality of powder electrostatic spraying are in powder electrostatic spraying.
metal powder coating Equipment introduction: (1) Powder room and powder supply device. The powder room wraps the entire spraying process in a relatively enclosed environment. After accurate calculation and reasonable manufacturing and processing, the powder will not overflow to pollute the environment and can be recycled. (2) Spray gun and control equipment. (3) Powder conveying equipment. (4) Control equipment in the powder spraying area. (5) Powder purification equipment. Collect the powder particles in the designated area, achieving solid/liquid separation of powder particles sprayed in the air, facilitating the recycling of powder coatings. After solid/gas separation, the air is purified and discharged outdoors, reducing dust pollution in the environment. (6) Recycled powder conveying equipment. The sprayed powder is transported to the powder conveying system for reuse. Instantaneously over-sprayed powder exposed to the outdoors for a long time may be contaminated by humidity and dust. The powder left in the powder spraying area facilitates cleaning efficiency and speed during powder changes, reducing labor intensity. The less powder remaining in the spraying chamber and recovery chamber, the less powder change and discoloration, the less dust flying, and the better the working environment. (7) Ventilation and purification equipment. Safety requirements: Control the dust concentration below the explosion limit and promptly discharge gases with high dust concentration in the spraying area. Environmental protection requirements: Provide power for powder purification facilities, prevent powder from overflowing to pollute the environment in other areas, and overcome wind duct resistance.
As we all know, industrial spraying is a large-scale system project. Besides metal powder coating the above-mentioned equipment required in the process, pretreatment, and conveying equipment are also needed to coordinate operation, enabling the entire system to maintain product stability normally.
